A Toledo Police Officer was shot and killed during a standoff with a suspect on Monday. Toledo Police Chief George Kral identified the officer as 24-year-old Brandon Stalker.
Authorities say at 3:53PM officers located the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Christopher Harris, who was wanted for prior vandalism and arson of a city cathedral. Harris was standing on Fulton Street smoking a cigarette when officers spotted him.
When approached, Harris brandished a firearm and ran inside his home. Officers setup a perimeter and called in a tactical team.
After several hours of trying to negotiate with the suspect, the tactical team fired hot gas canisters into the home. At around 6:30PM, Harris exited the residence armed with two handguns and began shooting. Officer Stalker was struck once and killed.
The suspect was shot and killed during the gunfight.
Officer Brandon Stalker left behind a fiancé and a young child.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Stalker’s family, department, and community.
