The John Schneider Story

End of Watch – September 7, 1980

It was a warm Sunday morning in the river town of Winona Minnesota.  John Schneider had been promoted to Investigator and was 22 years into his career with the Sheriff’s Office.  He grew up in Winona, was well respected in the community, and just a couple years from retirement when he lost his life helping save the life of a 15-month-old baby.

John’s killer is up for parole in June of 2021.  This will be the 5th parole hearing this family has had to endure.  Please go to  to find out how you can help this family.   It only takes a few minutes to generate your letter to the parole board from this page – a few minutes of your time will mean the world to this survivor family.
