Rock Hill, SC – Former NFL Pro Phillip Adams shot and killed five people Wednesday afternoon before he killed himself early Thursday morning.

Police were called to the home of Dr. Robert Leslie and Barbara Leslie around 4:45 pm on Wednesday afternoon in response to a report of shots fired. When police arrived on the scene they found both Robert and Barbara Leslie shot to death. Police also discovered their two grandchildren, Adah and Noah, shot to death as well. James Lewis, who was working outside of the home, was found shot to death and a sixth individual was found shot with serious gunshot wounds and transported to a nearby hospital.

The suspect was identified as Phillip Adams, an ex-NFL player.

After law enforcement spent hours searching for the suspect they found him in a nearby home. Eventually Adams turned the gun on himself and took his own life.

An anonymous source stated that Adams’ family lived near the Leslies and that Adams had been treated by the doctor in the past.

Dr. Leslie and his wife had been together for 35 years and had raised four children. He has been practicing medicine in Rockville since 1981. A memorial page has been set up for the family.

The York County Police continue to investigate the situation and at this time the motive for the shootings is unknown.

Phillip Adams was a defensive back for both the 49ers and Raiders and sustained multiple injuries throughout his NFL career including multiple concussions.
