Early Tuesday morning a Georgia sheriff’s deputy who worked at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center was fatally stabbed while transporting an inmate.

Deputy Christopher Wilson Knight and Deputy Jerome Michael Williams were transporting Albert Dewitt Booze, an inmate who claimed to be suicidal, to a different area of the jail around 2:30 am on Tuesday morning when the altercation occurred.

Deputy Knight and Deputy Williams were bringing Booze to an observation cell when Booze grabbed a knife from one of the deputies and attacked both of them. Deputy Knight and Deputy Williams were transported to Atrium Health Navicent. Deputy Knight was pronounced dead shortly after 3:45 am. Deputy Williams has been treated and released from the hospital.

Deputy Knight had been with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office since 2018. He leaves behind a 2 year old child and will be greatly missed.
