Boone, North Carolina – A Watauga County Deputy Sheriff has been shot and a standoff with the suspect is now underway in a Boone neighborhood.

 

The Boone Police are assisting the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office with the stand off.

The Boone Police Department issued a “shelter in place” order to residence via Twitter after the shooting.

There is no information on the condition of the Deputy, or the circumstances of the shooting. This is a developing story, check back for updates. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Deputy who was shot.

Local news is now reporting two deputies have been shot. The deputies were at the location to conduct a welfare check. This is still an active scene.
