On Monday afternoon, during a ‘routine’ traffic stop in Alabama, an officer was shot and a suspect was killed after the suspect fled his vehicle on foot armed with a gun.

Around 12:45 pm a Dothan police officer pulled over a vehicle for not displaying a license plate. During the stop the officer noticed that the individual had a gun inside.

The vehicle took off before being released by the officer. The officer pursued the vehicle and the individual got out of the vehicle and fled on foot armed with a handgun.

Responding officers used a taser on the suspect who then opened fire on the officers. The officers returned fire and struck the suspect.
