Burleson, TX. – A Burleson Police Officer was shot multiple times Wednesday morning while conducting a traffic stop. Police are searching for three suspects who fled the scene.
Authorities say the officer stopped a vehicle at 4:15AM in the 1100 block of Hillside Drive and approached the vehicle on the passenger side. One suspect immediately began firing through the car window, shooting the officer multiple times.
The suspects, two men and a woman, fled the scene in the vehicle which they abandoned a short time later. Police say the vehicle was set on fire. No detailed suspect description has been released, but authorities are using bodycam video to attempt to identify them.
The unidentified officer was taken to a local hospital by another officer. He is in stable condition and KXAS Channel 5 reported the officer was “lucid and speaking.”
The Texas Rangers are taking the lead in the investigation.
