In the New York City mayor race, former NYPD Captain and candidate Eric Adams seems to be winning with his tough on crime message. Although a democrat, which is all that can win currently in the city, Adams does not want to defund the NYPD, so that’s a start.
In a recent Spectrum News NY1 poll, residents were asked about their stance on police, and the results do not match the progressive left.
Here are a few poll results:
- Top Priorities For Next Mayor: 46% Crime/Public Safety, 30% Reopening Business/Economy, 30% Affordable Housing, 24% Stopping The Spread Of COVID-19, 20% Racial Injustice
- The NYPD Should Put More Officers On The Streets: 72% Agree, 20% Disagree
It seems the people who actually live in NYC don’t want to defund the police anymore, they want to be safe.
