Chicago, IL – On Wednesday night there was a mass shooting  where ten people were shot in North Lawndale and a 14 year old boy died from his injuries.

Around 6 pm Chicago  Police responded to the 3300 block of South Douglas and found five shooting victims. Two of the victims were teenagers. One of the teenagers was a 14 year old boy who was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 16 year old boy was transported to the hospital in very critical condition. Two 24 year old men and a 26 year old man were transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Roughly 10 minutes later police responded to the 1400 block of South Ridgeway where an other shooting had taken place. Three teenage boys ages 14, 15 and 17 were transported to the hospital in stable condition. An 18 year old was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A 22 year old man was transported to the hospital in good condition.
Currently the police do not know if the two shootings are connected and there are no suspects in custody.
“This is becoming an effort where we’re going to need an all-hands-on-deck approach. That approach is going to involve our community…our community who has cell phone photos, who has Facebook information, we’re going to need your help.” – CPD Deputy Chief Ernest Cato
According to an analysis of city data by the Sun Times so far this year Chicago has seen at least 33 shootings incidents where four or more victims were injured.
