After having received the Covid-19 booster shot 14 Israelis have contracted the coronavirus. Israel is the first country to administer the booster shot.
The government decided to give the booster shot to the elderly and immunocompromised individuals due to the latest outbreak.

According to Health Ministry data 14 people contracted the virus despite having received the booster shot. Eleven of the individuals who got the virus were over the age of 60 and the other three individuals were immunocompromised under the age of 60. Two of the individuals who contracted the virus were hospitalized.
The drive to administer the booster shot began last week and so far a total of 420,000 people have received the booster shot.
However it appears that despite some people getting a booster shot in addition to two other shots over the course of six months did not prevent them from getting the virus. Israel has reported more coronavirus cases in August 2021 compared to August 2020 when no one had received a vaccine.
In a Sunday meeting Israeli Government Ministers fought over the idea of another government lockdown during the upcoming High Holiday period and the increase in Covid-19 cases. Education Minister Yifat Shasha-Biton stated that the option of another lockdown must be, “taken off the agenda.”
“people are anxious for… their livelihood. We have seen the charts — it doesn’t matter whether countries imposed lockdown or not, the morbidity charts look the same.” – Education Minister Yifat Shasha-Biton
“We need to eliminate the word ‘lockdown’ from our lexicon. We are causing people to live under threat.” – Intelligence Minister Elazar Stern
Other ministers disagreed and felt that there is a need for a lockdown. They felt that it should be talked about publicly prior to it being imposed.
