“Stop reaching for it! Stop reaching for it, dude!” an officer is heard yelling at the suspect just prior to the gunshot.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jerome Roman, was arrested after the struggle. He will be charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest, authorities said.

Other officers were treated for minor cuts and bruises. The suspect’s 9mm handgun was found at the scene. Police say it jammed after firing one time.
Roman has been arrested at least 25 times, including eight felonies and 17 misdemeanors, with a criminal history that includes charges for menacing, gang assault, and other offenses — along with a sealed, “gang-related” murder bust from December 2014, according to records and sources, the NY Post reported.
