Ten people were shot in a gang attack in the New York City borough of Queens on Saturday night, according to the NYPD.

Police say two men approached a group of people on foot near 99th Street and 37th Avenue in Queens on Saturday night while holding handguns.

The men began firing numerous times into a crowd before getting on scooters driven by two other suspects and fleeing the area, police said. Ten people were wounded in the shooting.

Chief of Detectives James Essig said three of the victims were known gang members, who are believed to be the intended targets of the shooting. The seven other victims were believed to be bystanders, Essig said.  “This is a coordinated, brazen attack, for a lack of a better word,” Essig said.

All of the shooting victims were being treated at local hospitals and none of their injuries are considered life-threatening.  Police say the victims range in age from 19 to 72.

The suspects are still outstanding.
