Ever since the Capitol Hill riots on January 6th, the Democrats have insisted that the day was an attack on Democracy. Just last week, Stephen Colbert insisted the day was the start of a civil war in America. And who could forget when AOC discussed how she felt as if she was going to die during the whole experience even though she was in an entirely separate building. While the Democrats try to spin that day to fit their narrative, the only truth is – one person deserves justice and her name is Ashli Babbitt.
Both a Trump supporter and veteran, Babbitt was the only person to lose their life that day when she was shot by U.S. Capitol Police. Although there have been conflicting reports as to how many people died on Jan. 6th, the only person to lose their life due to the riots themselves was Babbitt. And up until now – the Biden administration was protecting the identity of the officers who shot her.
First reported by Newsweek, Terry Roberts, the attorney for Babbitt’s family, identified the man as Lieutenant Michael Leroy Byrd. Roberts told the outlet, “The U.S. Congress wants to protect this man. He’s got friends in high places and they want to protect him. And they’ve done a pretty good job of it. … I don’t think it’s a proud moment for the U.S. Capitol Police or the U.S. Congress.”
““Roberts told Zenger Wednesday night that the shooter was "Lieutenant Michael Leroy Byrd."
Byrd's attorney, Mark Schamel, did not dispute the positive identification.”

Roberts was also sure to attack the theory being used by Congress that they were keeping the officer’s name a secret for his safety. “They put out there that his [Byrd’s] life would be in danger if he came forward, and we know now that that can’t be true because he’s coming forward on his own,” Roberts added. “So, you know, he used that as an excuse.”
As for the officer responsible, not much is known about Byrd, who is 53, other than the fact that he is a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Gulf War. According to friends and neighbors close to Byrd, he is a rather quiet man with “family roots are in Jamaica.”
