Encino, TX. – A van loaded with 25 suspected illegal immigrants crashed in South Texas, killing 10 people and injuring at least 13 others, authorities said Wednesday.
The horrific crash occurred just before 4PM Wednesday on U.S. 281 in Encino, Texas. Brooks County Sheriff Urbino Martinez said the van, designed to hold 15 passengers, tipped over when the driver lost control, ABC News reported.
Encino is located about 2 miles south of the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint.
Sheriff Martinez said investigators believe most of the passengers were illegal immigrants.

The driver was also killed, Lt. Chris Olivarez with the Texas Department of Public Safety told Fox News.
Authorities were not in pursuit at the time of the crash, Olivarez said.
