Police have attempted to engage with the man inside the truck. They are working to determine if the device is an operable explosive and whether or not the man inside the vehicle is holding a detonator. Police have sent snipers to the scene.
The building is near the Capitol and Supreme Court and have evacuated congressional offices nearby. Congress is out on recess this week. The area is currently being blocked off by police and barricades. In the distance ambulances and firetrucks are ready to respond if necessary. The FBI, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Metropolitan Police are also responding to the scene.
The White House is also monitoring the situation.
