A new book is claiming that top aides in the White House have set up a “wall” that is meant to shield President Joe Biden from unscripted events. They are reportedly doing this due to Biden’s frequent gaffes and testiness in interviews.

In their book “Peril,” journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa recounted several incidents of Biden getting testy with reporters in the early days of his presidency, including a back-and-forth with a CNN reporter for which he later apologized.

“That side of Biden — his tendency to at times be testy or mangle statements — was still with him and now part of his presidency,” the book stated, according to Fox News.

Multiple aides of Biden’s have said that Chief of Staff Ronald Klain and then-White House advisor Anita Dunn worked to prevent such incidents by keeping him away from “unscripted events or long interviews.”

“They called the effect ‘the wall,’ a cocooning of the president,” the book alleged.

Despite this, Woodward and Costa said that the incidents regarding Biden still happened. They added that the White House had to do some serious damage control after Biden announced that he had struck a major bipartisan infrastructure deal, only to later admit that it was contingent on a more liberal spending package being passed.

This move shocked Democrats because they saw these as separate, and enraged Republicans, who were not happy with the caveat. Biden had to issue a lengthy statement clarifying his position while White House staffers tried to fix the damage by working the phones.

Later in the book, Woodward and Costa revealed that Biden and his administration try not to even say the name of former President Donald Trump. In fact, aides “frequently warned each other to please avoid the ‘T’ word.”

“What an f—ing a–hole,” Biden once said of Trump, according to The New York Post.

It was also revealed in the book that Biden overruled Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin when they warned him that he needed to slow the troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. While Blinken had initially supported Biden’s withdrawal plan, he changed his mind after speaking to NATO ministers in March.

“His new recommendation was to extend the mission with US troops for a while to see if it could yield a political settlement. Buy time for negotiations,” the book stated.

Biden’s withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan has been widely panned by both sides of the political aisle. This all just goes to show what a failure of a President Biden has been in the nine months he’s been in office.
