Earlier today, we reported that Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland had weaponized the FBI against parents all over the country who dare to raise concerns over things like mask mandates and critical race theory being taught in schools.

Garland did this under the guise of saying that the FBI must address threats against school boards all over the nation.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), however, is not having any of it. He fired back against what Garland and Joe Biden’s administration is doing on Twitter.

“Attorney General Garland is weaponizing the DOJ by using the FBI to pursue concerned parents and silence them through intimidation,” DeSantis tweeted. “Florida will defend the free speech rights of its citizens and will not allow federal agents to squelch dissent.”

This came one day after Garland claimed that school boards across the nation are under attack.

“Threats against public servants are not only illegal, they run counter to our nation’s core values,” Garland said in a statement on Monday. “Those who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring that our children receive a proper education in a safe environment deserve to be able to do their work without fear for their safety.”

DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw told Fox News that while it’s too early to say what specifically the Florida governor will do to fight back against Garland’s order, he will be closely monitoring the situation “to protect the rights of Floridians from government overreach and the inappropriate politicization of federal law enforcement.”

“Several Florida school board members, including Democrats and Republicans, have reported receiving threats and harassment from activists on both ends of the political spectrum,” Pushaw said. “This is wrong, and anyone who is a victim of a crime should report it to their local police department. Florida law enforcement is perfectly capable of responding to crimes in Florida, and we have never heard the FBI suggest otherwise.”

“However, disagreement is not harassment. Protest is not terrorism unless it involves rioting, looting, and assault, like some of the left-wing protests of summer 2020. Again, all of those actions are crimes in Florida and will be prosecuted, regardless of political context,” she added. “Governor DeSantis condemns any attempt by the federal government to silence free speech. It is despicable and anti-American.”

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, DeSantis has gone all out to protect the rights of individuals and parents, so it comes as no surprise that he is ready to do everything he can to fight back against this order.
