American Airlines now joins Southwest Airlines in the struggle to keep flights in the air as employees refuse to comply with vaccine mandates. American Airlines had 251 flight cancellations and 616 flight delays, with most of them being out of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The abnormal amount of flight delays and cancellations occurred less than a week after employees protested outside of the companies headquarters in Fort Worth.

“Hundreds of A.A. workers and allies protested outside the company’s Fort Worth, Texas headquarters on Thursday. The protesters told The Dallas Morning News that they are skeptical of the vaccines’ effectiveness and their unreported side effects.” – Newsweek Report.

Numerous employees protested, including pilots, flight attendants, gate agents, and ramp workers. Many of them were joined by family and friends who supported their rights to refuse to get the vaccine.

American Airlines had announced back in September that all employees must have proof that they are fully vaccinated by November 24. The company had sent a threatening email to employees about what would happen if they did not submit proof.

“If you have not submitted proof of vaccination by November 24, we will be in touch to begin the next steps. To be clear, if you fail to comply with the requirement, the result will be termination from the company,”  – email from American Airlines.

Multiple employees would rather quit than be forced into getting the jab.

However, in Texas, Governor Abbott has issued an executive order banning the enforcement of vaccine mandates, including those from private employers. So legally, there are many questions as to whether or not the mandates can even be enforced. On Tuesday, a federal judge halted United Airlines’ vaccine mandates. The company had been putting individuals with a religious exemption on unpaid leave.

“A U.S. judge in Texas on Tuesday temporarily restrained United Airlines from placing any employee on unpaid leave who receive religious exemptions from the company for COVID-19 vaccinations until October 26. The Judge also temporarily restrained the airline from denying any late requests for religious or medical accommodations.” – Reuters

In New York, a judge also issued a preliminary injunction against the State of New York’s vaccine mandate that would allow mass firings of health care workers and public servants who are not vaccinated. The injunction was granted, stating the mandate is a violation of First Amendment Rights.

Southwest employees have organized an event on Monday, October 18, for people to protest the vaccine mandates regardless of who they work for.

People need to join together and let it be known that no government or employer should have the ability to force you into a medical decision about your body or force risking everything you have worked for.
