According to records disclosed on November 29th by the New York Attorney General’s Office, CNN personality Chris Cuomo allegedly used his media contacts to obtain information on the women who were hurling allegations of sexual harassment against his brother, former Governor Andrew Cuomo.

While the CNN anchor had previously admitted to advising his brother – along with the former governor’s team – on how to navigate and respond to the then-mounting allegations, records reveal that Chris Cuomo was doing a lot more than just giving a little handy advice here and there.

Apparently, Chris Cuomo was actively in contact with a woman named Melissa DeRosa, who was then-Governor Andrew Cuomo’s top aide, about the flood of media reports that were coming in regarding Andrew Cuomo’s scandals.

Exhibits from the state AG’s investigation into Andrew Cuomo, alongside a transcript of Chris Cuomo’s interview with investigators, noted that Chris Cuomo had sent a message reading “Please let me help with the prep” to DeRosa in early March of 2021.

Chris Cuomo would later text DeRosa, “I have a lead on the wedding girl,” three days after the New York Times published a story about how Andrew Cuomo tried kissing a woman later identified as Anna Ruch.

Speaking with investigators during the probe into his brother, Chris Cuomo admitted to reaching out to “sources” to see if they could spill the beans on any forthcoming allegations that hadn’t been published in media outlets yet.

“I would – when asked, I would reach out to sources, other journalists, to see if they had heard of anybody else coming out.”

The CNN personality did give the name of the source he spoke with when digging into Anna Ruch, but the state AG’s office redacted the name of the source Chris Cuomo said within their report.

However, Chris Cuomo’s unnamed source claimed to have known the bride’s family in the incident where the handsy Andrew Cuomo tried planting a kiss on Ruch. This source told Chris Cuomo, “Maybe she had been put up to it.”

Later on in March, DeRosa had sent a text message to Chris Cuomo that read, “Rumor going around from politico 1-2 more ppl coming out tomorrow. Can u check your sources.” The CNN anchor responded that he was “On it,” and later responded with, “No one has heard that yet.”

Additional March discussions between Chris Cuomo and DeRosa also revolved around a then-yet-to-be published report from the New Yorker regarding one of Andrew Cuomo’s accusers, which eventually was published on March 18th.

Four days prior to that March 18th report from the New Yorker getting published, Chris Cuomo had responded to DeRosa’s inquiries to look into the story being crafted by New Yorker investigative reporter Ronan Farrow, texting, “If Ronan has nothing better than Boylan, that’s a great sign.”

The text referred to Lindsey Boylan, a former aide to Andrew Cuomo. The focus of the New Yorker article was about Boylan’s encounters with former Governor Cuomo, among them being an instance where the former governor told her, “Let’s play strip poker.”
