WASHINGTON, DC – According to reports, Steve Bannon, a former Trump White House advisor, is asking for the release of court documents in his contempt of Congress case, claiming that he wants to utilize them in his defense.

Bannon has filed a motion to overturn a district court judge’s customary protective order for discovery, which prevents either party in such cases from publicly revealing these sorts of documents. In a November 25th report from the Washington Post, a statement regarding the effort was shared with the outlet on behalf of Bannon.

“Members of the public should make their own independent judgment as to whether the U.S. Department of Justice is committed to a just result based upon all the facts. In the opposition filed today, Mr. Bannon asked the judge to follow the normal process and allow unfettered access to and use of the documents.”

We at Red Voice Media previously reported on Bannon’s November 12th contempt of Congress charge that came into fruition due to Bannon reportedly refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by the House committee tasked with investigating the January 6th incident at the Capitol.

Bannon was reportedly subpoenaed to appear for an October 14th deposition regarding the investigation into the Capitol incident, as well as not handing over requested documents to the House committee investigating the events of January 6th.

A press release from the Department of Justice earlier in November noted that Bannon was hit with two contempt of Congress charges, which a conviction of a single charge can carry up to a year in jail as well as a fine of up to $1,000.

Following his indictment, before Bannon pleaded not guilty to the charges, he stood out front of the federal courthouse to tell members of the press that his case was “going to be the misdemeanor from hell” for the zealous Democrats behind the charges.

“I’m telling you right now, this is going to be the misdemeanor from hell for Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden…We’re going on the offense…Not just Trump people and not just conservatives — every progressive, every liberal in this country that likes freedom of speech and liberty should be fighting for this case. That’s why I’m here today: for everybody. I’m never going to back down.”
