Senator Manchin Continues To Oppose Build Back Better, Might Leave Democrat Party

Making his announcement that he would not be supporting President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) instantly drew major backlash from his own party for his decision. Although the criticism has been harsh and bountiful, Sen. Manchin doubled down on his remarks on Monday when speaking on a morning radio show.

During the interview, Sen. Manchin stated, “I knew where they were, and I knew what they could and could not do. They just never realized it because they figured, surely to God we can move one person, surely we can badger and beat one person up, surely we can get enough protesters to make that person uncomfortable enough.”

Manchin added, “Well, guess what? I’m from West Virginia. I’m not from where they’re from, and they can just beat the living crap out of people and think they’ll be submissive, period.”

Some of the harshest criticism to come from the left was when the White House released their own statement using Press Secretary Jen Psaki, stating, “Senator Manchin’s comments this morning on FOX are at odds with his discussions this week with the President, with White House staff, and with his own public utterances. Weeks ago, Senator Manchin committed to the President, at his home in Wilmington, to support the Build Back Better framework that the President then subsequently announced. Senator Manchin pledged repeatedly to negotiate on finalizing that framework “in good faith.”

Not only are the Democrats scrambling after the decision from Manchin, but apparently, President Biden himself reached out to the senator, trying to convince him to change his mind. And as you can see in the video below, it didn’t work as the Build Back Better agenda slowly fades in the distance.

Shocked by the move by Manchin, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. claimed he would welcome the Democrat to the GOP as it appears the left is attacking him on all fronts. McConnell told The Guy Benson Show, “I was shocked at the vitriol. And basically, it seemed to me that they were calling Sen. Manchin a liar. I think that was not smart. This is a 50/50 Senate. It’s going to be 50/50 for another year, and believe me, this is not how I would handle a disappointing vote like that.”
