During a recent interview with The Truth Gazette, Senator Ted Cruz mentioned that he’s looking at a run for president come 2024, basing his rationale for such a decision due to him having performed so well during the 2016 primaries.
In a video interview that will be released in its entirety on December 24th, a clip was shared where The Truth Gazette’s Brilyn Hollyhand asked Sen. Cruz whether he would “consider running for President again?” In response, Sen. Cruz delivered a confident assurance to Hollyhand that he’ll be running in the 2024 primaries.

“Absolutely, in a heartbeat. I ran in 2016. It was the most fun I’d ever had in my life. We had a very crowded field. We had 17 candidates in the running – very strong field – and I ended up placing second. And you know, there’s a reason historically that the runner-up is almost always the next nominee.
And that’s been true going back to Nixon or Reagan or McCain or Romney – that has played out repeatedly. You come in with just an enormous base of support. You know, in 2016, we raised over $92 million. That was the most money any Republican has ever raised in the history of presidential primaries.”
