Black Lives Matter (BLM), a racist, Marxist-run organization that participated in orchestrating of billions of dollars worth of damage during months of rioting, was able to fundraise millions of dollars with little to show for it.

The Washington Examiner [2] reported on its investigation into the organization this week, saying, “No one appears to have been in charge at Black Lives Matter for months. The address it lists on tax forms is wrong, and the charity’s two board members won’t say who controls its $60 million bankroll, a Washington Examiner investigation has found.”
Co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who resigned in May [3] amid scandals involving finances, has been criticized for her extravagant purchases involving multiple houses [4] across the nation.
Reportedly, prior to her resignation, she left two people in charge of BLM, Makani Themba and Monifa Bandele. However, neither apparently ended up taking the positions, as they “quietly announced [5]” in September, due to disagreements with the organization’s “acting Leadership Council.” The Washington Examiner spoke with both of them, who said they don’t know who’s supposed to be in charge of BLM right now.
Further, neither Themba nor Bandele would (or possibly could) tell the Examiner who currently sits on the “Council.”
Board members Shalomyah Bowers and Raymond Howard did not return “numerous requests for comment asking who has been in charge of BLM and its money since Cullors left the charity in May.”
According to reports, BLM ended 2020 with over $60 million in the bank.
This is after fundraising over $90 million by 2020, spending $8.4 million on “staffing, operating and administrative costs, along with activities such as civic engagement, rapid response and crisis intervention.”
“We want to uplift Black joy and liberation, not just Black death,” an impact statement [6] by BLM read in February 2021. “We want to see Black communities thriving, not just surviving.”
It’s unclear how many, if any, black people the organization has actually helped, specifically when it comes to the millions of dollars at their disposal. They have, however, contributed to the looting, damage, and destruction of black-owned businesses in cities like Seattle, New York, Portland, and Los Angeles.
Allegedly, according to the AP, “The foundation said it committed $21.7 million in grant funding to official and unofficial BLM chapters, as well as 30 black-led local organizations.”
However, without proper tax papers or documentation, which were due November 2021 for the previous year but so far have not been seen, it’s impossible to know for sure.
CharityWatch Executive Director Laurie Styron spoke to the Examiner about BLM. She said, “Like a giant ghost ship full of treasure drifting in the night with no captain, no discernible crew, and no clear direction.”
Paul Kamenar is the counsel for conservative watchdog group, National Legal and Policy Center. Kamenar said that he believes a “full audit and investigation into Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation…is warranted.”
He also said, “This is grossly irregular and improper for a nonprofit with $60 million in its coffers. Bottom line: Lot of questionable financial activity, organizational structure, location of the books, etc. that call for a full investigation.”
In a separate report [8], the Washington Examiner mentioned attempting to contact someone in the organization from the address listed on BLM’s 2019 tax form 990-EZ.
“Oh, they don’t have an office here,” a security guard told the reporter at the building. “We get a lot of packages being dropped off for them, and we say to take the packages back because there is no Black Lives Matter here.”
“One of our biggest goals this year is taking the dollars we were able to raise in 2020 and building out the institution we’ve been trying to build for the last seven and a half years,” Cullors said in a February 2021 interview. Meanwhile, she’s gone, the two she left in charge never took the positions, and no one seems to know where the leadership of BLM is, or what’s happened to their $60 million.
You can still donate [9] to this organization if you dare- we’re sure it’s money well spent.
