WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Marshals have reportedly discovered “deficiencies” in the Washington D.C. jail where defendants who have been hit with charges in connection to last year’s January 6 Capitol riot are being held.

On Monday, a court filing regarding the case of Robert Gieswein, a Colorado man accused of assaulting a Capitol Police officer, added credence to the claims that these defendants are being mistreated, something they and their attorneys have been trying to tell the world for months.

The Washington Examiner reported that in the filing, U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves said that the U.S. Marshals Service had reported back in November that they had a “number of concerns” about the conditions at the Central Detention Facility, which led to some inmates being transferred. However, the marshals found that the conditions at the facility where Gieswein is being held are “largely appropriate and consistent with federal prisoner detention standards.”

The U.S. government is now saying that it “understands” that the U.S. Marshals Service has continued to monitor conditions at both Gieswein’s jail, which is called the Central Treatment Facility, and at the Central Detention Facility.

“USMS reports that it has observed additional deficiencies through its monitoring, including several deficiencies at CTF,” Graves wrote in the filing.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has visited the Central Detention Facility and has been leading the charge in trying to draw attention to what she describes as the horrific conditions there. Last month, she released a report titled “Unusually Cruel: An Eyewitness Report From Inside The DC Jail,” in which she described what she saw in the January 6 wing of the jail.

Greene claimed that she saw cells that “were extremely small, composed of a single toilet, sink, and a small cot” and walls with “human feces, bodily fluids, blood, dirt, and mold.”

Democrats have been spent the past year trying to use the January 6 riot to shame millions of Trump supporters all over the country, so it should come as no surprise that they’re keeping the rioters themselves in inhumane conditions. Even after this damning revelation about the conditions, Democrats are still trying to cover themselves by bizarrely making this into a racial issue.

“Recent reports about squalid conditions in the district jails are unfortunately not new,” Karl A. Racine, Washington’s attorney general, said at a recent hearing. The New York Times reported that he went on to claim that “concerns about conditions at the jail received little attention until they were raised by mostly white defendants accused of perpetrating the Jan. 6 insurrection.”
