An MSNBC producer reportedly copied Rep. Madison Cawthorn’s team on an email accidentally, expressing concern that if they reached out to him directly for comment regarding a recent Associated Press story about him, he might ask to appear on the Rachel Maddow show.

On January 11th, Rep. Cawthorn’s office inadvertently obtained an email from a Maddow senior producer regarding a story written by AP about a group in North Carolina trying to contest his reelection efforts.

This producer was apparently addressing a Capitol Hill NBC News colleague in this email, which they asked this NBC News colleague to seek comment directly from Rep. Cawthorn about the AP piece since they didn’t want to reach out directly and risk him asking “to come on and explain” on Maddow’s program.

“We are kinda interested in this AP story (below) that just dropped about Rep. Madison Cawthorn. A group of voters in NC is challenging his candidacy based on his ties to the insurrection. 1. Do you or any other NBC Hill folks plan to ask him for a comment on this story? 2. If not, is that something you guys could do? We don’t have a relationship with his office and between you and me are a little worried that if we did inquire, he might ask to come on and explain. I know that is HIGHLY doubtful, but don’t want to take that risk. Luke Ball (?) I guess is the spox quoted?”

In response to the email his team was copied on, Rep. Cawthorn called out just how spineless the likes of MSNBC are, insofar that they’re seemingly terrified that someone of his caliber would possibly ask to appear on their show and speak his peace directly.

“Fake news MSNBC doesn’t want to ‘take the risk’ that I’ll come on their show and trigger the left with my America First message and burst their woke dystopian bubble. The left doesn’t want debate from conservatives, they want silence. And now we have it in writing. Sad!”

Newsmax host Chris Salcedo recently hosted a panel on the matter where Daily Wire personality Michael Knowles and talk radio host Wendy Bell lent their thoughts, poking fun at how terrified the Left is when potentially confronting the Right on a debate of ideas and policy.
