Following over two years of mandates, protocols, and lockdowns, citizens in Canada have grown increasingly irritated with their government. Like many other places around the world, the mandates that were imposed for the “health and safety of the general public” have done little to stop COVID-19 from spreading. Eagerly wanting their freedoms back, the Freedom Convoy has not only disrupted Ottawa but is now making its way into America.

Hoping to stifle the movement, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced the “Emergencies Act” to suppress the protests. The only problem, Trudeau’s aggressive stance towards the protesters has led fellow politicians to back away from the Prime Minister as he is being compared to a dictator.

In the video, which can be watched below, Ontario Premier Doug Ford has voiced his disdain for the Freedom Convoy and protests, but even he couldn’t help but see the absurdity of treating protesters like terrorists. “You know, you can go to Costco, you can go to Walmart, you can go shopping. You know, you don’t know if the person has a shot beside or not, but we also know that it doesn’t matter if you have one shot or 10 shots, you can catch COVID. See, the prime ministry has triple shots. And I know hundreds of people, three shots that caught COVID. We just have to be careful. We gotta always make sure we wash our hands and, and move forward.”

Doug added, “This is about, again, a democracy and freedoms and liberties. And I hate as a government telling anyone what to do. We just gotta get moving forward and, and get out of this and protect the jobs. You know… I think a lot of people call ’em, probably yourself too. Everyone’s done with this. Like we are done with it. Let’s let’s start moving on and cautiously and you know, we’ve followed the rules, all of us, 90% of us for over two years, the world’s done with it. So let’s just move forward.”

It wasn’t just the Ontario Premier either, as during a debate at Parliament, Candice Bergen, who is the interim Leader to the Conservative Party, stated, “I had a very simple question to the prime minister. He was not able to answer it. It would appear this could be more political drama for the prime minister. He name-calls people that he disagrees with. He wedges, he divides, he stigmatizes. Yet, in spite of all of his failure, Coutts border has cleared. Windsor has opened up. Provinces and police are doing their jobs and blockades are starting to come down. But the prime minister thinks that now is the time to use this extreme measure and evoke the Emergencies Act. Isn’t it true that the prime minister’s actions could serve to actually make things worse and not make things better?”

Although Trudeau is currently attacking protesters taking part in the Freedom Convoy, he admitted through shouts from conservatives, “These measures must be and will be compliant with the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms. We will always defend the rights of Canadians to peaceful assembly and to freedom of expression, but these blockades need to end. And unfortunately, conservative politicians continue to encourage the leaders of these blockades.”

Red Voice Media would like to make a point of clarification on why we do not refer to any shot related to COVID-19 as a "vaccine." According to the CDC, the definition of a vaccine necessitates that said vaccine have a lasting effect of at least one year in preventing the contraction of the virus or disease it's intended to fight. Because all of the COVID-19 shots thus far available have barely offered six months of protection, and even then not absolute, Red Voice Media has made the decision hereafter to no longer refer to the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson substances as vaccinations.
