NEW YORK CITY, NY – The Clinton Foundation is reportedly resurrecting their Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), which serves as a big meeting of the who’s who in politics and big business, according to reports. And Bill Clinton seems to be capitalizing on the ongoings within Ukraine to get the ball rolling.

It’s been a few years since the Clinton Foundation ran one of their CGI events, as the annual meeting has been on a hiatus since 2016 due to concerns of conflicts of interests of donors, should Hillary Clinton’s race for the White House be successful.

But on March 4th, a letter from Bill Clinton that was sent to the foundation’s supporters informed them that a CGI gathering is being slated for September of 2022 in New York.

In Bill Clinton’s letter to supporters, he cited the likes of COVID, climate change, and of course Ukraine as being key reasons why the event needs to be resurrected.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has ripped the cover off of longstanding inequities and vulnerabilities across our global community. The existential threat of climate change grows every day. Democracy is under assault around the world, most glaringly in Ukraine where Russia has launched an unjustified and unprovoked invasion that has put millions of lives in grave danger.”

In all likelihood, the ongoings in Ukraine, in terms of the Russia conflict on the scale it is currently transpiring, will have realistically subsided by September.

But, as Winston Churchill famously noted in the wake of World War II, “Never let a good crisis go to waste,” and Bill Clinton’s mentioning of Ukraine in this sense seems to bear the hallmark of the sentiments of Churchill’s famous quote.

With CGI gatherings in the past have attracted the likes of Bono, Ben Affleck, Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton invoking Ukraine in conjunction with things like COVID and climate change, it’s sure to be a lucratively generous endeavor in many senses for the Clintons.

And according to this letter sent out to Clinton Foundation supporters, Bill Clinton believes that their CGI gathering will somehow be the vehicle to “achieve real results.”

“While the challenges our world faces today are steep, CGI has always been about what we can do, not what we can’t do. And by bringing diverse partners together to take action and achieve real results, we can create a culture of possibility in a world hungry for hope.”
