President Joe Biden has made numerous outlandish claims since he entered the White House 17 months ago. Some of his more curious claims to fame included traveling in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan over 40 times, how buying a cannon was illegal during the Revolutionary War as an individual, and how the NAACP had endorsed him every time he ran for office. With each statement having been proved highly inaccurate, it appears that President Biden continued to add to his growing list of false facts on Friday when he told graduating midshipmen that he applied for the Naval Academy in 1965. 1965 happened to be the same year he graduated from the University of Delaware, and the Naval Academy doesn’t offer any graduate degree.
That’s right, in the video, which is featured below, President Biden explained how he applied for Annapolis thanks to a letter from former Delaware Senator J. Caleb Boggs. “I was told the Class of ’72 is here. I was appointed to the academy in 1965 by a senator who I was running against in 1972 — never planned it that way. I wasn’t old enough to be sworn in. I was only 29 years old when I was running.” The President added, “He was a fine man. His name is J. Caleb Boggs. I didn’t come to the academy because I wanted to be a football star. And you had a guy named [Roger] Staubach and [Joe] Bellino here. So I went to Delaware.”

For those who might know, both Staubach and Bellino were the only two Navy football players to win the Heisman Trophy in 1960 and 1963. Biden continued, “But all kidding aside. “the best line of the debate was after it’s all over, the announcer, the questioner — who was a good guy, but supported my opponent, who was a good man as well, I might add — and he said, ‘Sen. Boggs, is there anything else you want to say?’ And he said, ‘Yes, just one thing.’ And he took the microphone. He said, ‘You know, Joe, if you accepted my commission to the — my appointment to the academy,’ he said, ‘you’d still have one year and three months’ active duty, and I’d have no problems right now.'”
With the United States taking part in the Vietnam War during the 60s, if President Biden had been part of the academy, he most likely would have served. Instead, Biden was granted five student draft deferments while at the University of Delaware and the Syracuse University College of Law. After finishing school in 1968, Biden was labeled unfit for military service due to childhood asthma.
Users online voiced their opinion, writing, “It seems that the Navy, even back in the dark ages of 1965, had better sense than to allow someone of Biden’s questionable character into their academy.”
