KERN COUNTY, CA – The James Edward Tubbs transgender child molester saga out of Los Angeles County continues, as Tubbs (who now identifies himself as a female named Hannah Tubbs) is being charged with first-degree murder in nearby Kern County.

The incident stems from a 2019 second-degree robbery. At the time of this writing, no details have been released on that incident or the victim, but the Kern County District Attorney’s office said a copy of the complaint against 26-year-old Tubbs would be available following his arraignment hearing, which is set to take place Tuesday.

Red Voice Media has reported on Tubbs previously, who was sentenced eight years after sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child in a Denny’s restroom to only two years- in a juvenile facility, no less- thanks to Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón and his refusal to charge Tubbs as an adult. His rationale for this was that Tubbs committed the crime when he was technically a juvenile in 2014- just two weeks before his 18th birthday. Tubbs would have no probation after his sentence, nor would he have to register as a sex offender.

The judge in the case, Judge Mario Barrera, said multiple times in court that his hands were tied as far as how long he could sentence Tubbs, due to Gascón’s refusal to request Tubbs be charged as an adult.

According to prosecutors, in 2014, Tubbs grabbed the child by the throat, locked her into one of the stalls and shoved his hands down her pants – only stopping the sexual assault after another individual walked inside of the restroom. He went undetected for the crime for years until 2019 when his DNA was entered into a database following an arrest in Idaho for battery. In 2020, prosecutors in Los Angeles filed charges against Tubbs for the 2014 sexual assault.

Also in 2020, according to records, he was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm in Kern County, according to court records.

At the time of his January sentencing, Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami, who works the Complex Child Abuse Unit, said, “There was evidence presented at the juvenile proceedings which showed that Tubbs sexually assaulted two young girls in different incidents in the past. The child victims will suffer lifelong trauma. Tubbs also has prior violent convictions and conduct as an adult.”

Fox News said, “Tubbs was also accused of sexually molesting a four-year-old girl in August 2013 in a Bakersfield, California library as the child’s mother was browsing for books a few aisles over.”

While inside the juvenile facility, Tubbs bragged to his dad about not having to register as a sex offender after serving his sentence, as was discovered by listening to jail calls. Tubbs laughed about the light sentence.

Gascón issued a statement saying that his comments were “extremely troubling.” Further, he said, “While for most people several years of jail time is adequate, it may not be for Ms. Tubbs. If we knew about her disregard for the harm she caused, we would have handled this case differently.”

Tubbs is being held in Kern County under a $1 million bond and is being tried under his real name of James.

Gascón’s office said on Monday, “District Attorney George Gascón is committed to protecting the public and especially our children. In this case, Hannah Tubbs continues to serve her Los Angeles County sentence, while being prosecuted on an unrelated robbery charge in Kern County…A no bail warrant has been obtained in the Los Angeles County case so officials here will be notified if she is released from Kern County.”

Shea Sanna, the original prosecutor on Tubbs’ case, said that an April report on the progress of Tubbs showed he had been involved in “60 negative incidents and was not cooperating with a required rehabilitation program.” Further, he said that he believes Tubbs is “gaming the system.”
