WASHINGTON, DC – On the evening of May 18th, the House passed new legislation regarding domestic terrorism. Fox News host Tucker Carlson lambasted the bill, highlighting how the legislation is poised to be abused for partisan political purposes.

The Associated Press reported that the legislation passed the House almost exclusively along party lines, with the sole Republican to vote in favor of this new domestic terrorism legislation being Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who is known to side with Democrats.

Unsurprisingly, the bill was pushed through the House in light of the mass shooting that claimed ten innocent lives that occurred in Buffalo, New York, earlier in May. Most notably, the bill is centered around combatting white supremacy.

Speaking from the House floor, Democrat Rep. Brad Schneider – who first introduced this sort of domestic terrorism bill back in 2017 – named dropped none other than Fox News host Tucker Carlson when pushing for this bill to be passed.

“We in Congress can’t stop the likes of Tucker Carlson from spewing hateful, dangerous replacement theory ideology across the airwaves. Congress hasn’t been able to ban the sale of assault weapons. The Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act is what Congress can do this week to try to prevent future Buffalo shootings.”

Republicans largely decried the bill, pointing out that said legislation bestows more surveillance powers in the Justice Department, which has already proven to abuse the powers currently vested with respect to the targeting of concerned parents as being potential terror threats last fall.

Further, authorities already had knowledge of the suspect in this case and his potential for violence and essentially did nothing with the information.

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa also found it intriguing that this domestic terrorism bill seemingly makes no mention of terror threats often associated with the “radical left.”

“This bill glaringly ignores the persistent domestic terrorism threat from the radical left in this country and instead makes the assumption that it is all on the white and the right.”

Following the passing of the bill in the House, Carlson mentioned on his program that the vague jargon used throughout the bill in conjunction with the legislation being hyper-focused around terminology that has been reduced to pejoratives used to insult anyone politically right of Stalin sets this legislation up to being weaponized against Democrats’ political foes.

“It instructs the FBI to quote, ‘analyze and monitor domestic terrorist activity.’ So how are we defining that? Well, of course we’re not defining that. It instructs the FBI in other words – the largest law enforcement organization in the United States – to monitor Joe Biden’s critics. It dramatically expands the definition of domestic terror to include hate crimes, whatever those are.

“It also mandates that the FBI and the DOJ conduct an assessment to determine whether white supremacists have quote, ‘infiltrated federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.’ Now, what’s a white supremacist? They don’t define that either. So, if you’re going to pass a law that empowers people with guns to make arrests, you probably should define your terms – otherwise, it will be abused.”
