For those who might not be aware, even before the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, numerous states already had “Trigger” laws that would ban abortion if the topic was ever given to the states. On Friday, those laws went into effect in states like Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Utah. Other states like Mississippi and North Dakota have the same laws but, according to officials, haven’t gone into effect yet. With Democrats and Hollywood reacting to the ruling, it appears that the issue has taken a drastic turn when Ana Navarro seemed to promote eugenics as a reason to protect abortion.

Known for spewing some outlandish theories in the past, the hosts of The View were in rare form as they celebrated the 25th season of the show in the Bahamas. But even with the ocean around them and the luxuries view, the only topic they wanted to discuss was women’s rights, abortion, and eugenics. In the video below,  Navarro, who is a regular on CNN, stated, “To ban a family from making their own choice of what’s best for them doesn’t mean that you don’t love your special needs family members, that you don’t adore them. And they are part of the family, but we know, first-hand experience, just how difficult it is to beg and plead for years sometimes to be able to get some help.”

Surprisingly, Navarro had more to say. “If they’re going to ban a family’s choice, there’s going to be more poor kids. There’s going to be more kids in adoption. There’s going to be more kids in foster care, there’s going to be more abused kids. … Those hypocritical states need to step up and provide the services.”

According to the National Human Genome Research Institute, eugenics is “the scientifically inaccurate theory that humans can be improved through selective breeding of populations.” They were sure to note, “Eugenicists believed in a prejudiced and incorrect understanding of Mendelian genetics that claimed abstract human qualities (e.g., intelligence and social behaviors) were inherited in a simple fashion. Similarly, they believed complex diseases and disorders were solely the outcome of genetic inheritance. The implementation of eugenics practices has caused widespread harm, particularly to populations that are being marginalized.”

Still, as the hosts of The View agreed with Navarro, Whoopi Goldberg had her one rant aimed at Justice Clarence Thomas. “What’s next? As Clarence Thomas is signaling, they would like to get rid of contraception. Do you understand, sir? No, because you don’t have to use it! We were not in the Constitution either. We were not even people in the Constitution. And you better hope that they don’t come for you, Clarence, and say you should not be married to your wife, who happens to be white, because they will move back. And you better hope that nobody says, ‘You’re not in the Constitution. You’re back to being a quarter of a person.’ Because that’s not gonna work either.”
