Since the Supreme Court historically decided to overturn Roe v. Wade on Friday, the country and world have watched as law enforcement has clashed with protests which quickly turned into riots. While the Democrats continue to parade around D.C., claiming the protest on January 6th was a direct attack on democracy, they have decided to join liberal activists in the streets as they call for violence against the Supreme Court Justices. Happening only two days ago, in New York City alone, 25 activists were arrested as they fought with law enforcement and suggested, “Burn it down! Burn it down! F–k Tucker Carlson!”. In Los Angeles, California, the scene was much the same as pro-choice activists took to the streets in anger. One individual even got creative with how he interacted with the police.
In the video, which can be watched below, 30-year-old Michael Ortiz was among a large group of protesters opposing the recent ruling. While police tried to keep the peace, Ortiz decided to use a homemade flamethrower against the officers. Luckily, only one officer was taken to the hospital with minor burn injuries. Quickly trying to get away, Ortiz was apprehended by other officers. Take a look.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Ortiz was booked for attempted murder of police officers. His bond is currently set to $1 million. LAPD Chief Michel Moore was sure to address the growing anger, explaining that while protesting is their First Amendment right, law enforcement would not hesitate to intervene when violence was shown. He added, “I condemn the violence against officers that occurred last night and into today. Individuals participating in such criminal activity are not exercising their 1st Amendment rights in protest of the Supreme Court decision. Rather, they are acting as criminals.”
The LAPD released its own statement: “The vast majority of those involved were peaceful and law-abiding. However, a much smaller group of individuals took to the streets with the intention of creating chaos and destruction…The Los Angeles Police Department has the distinction of facilitating First Amendment Rights for all Angelenos. Equally, the Department will enforce the law when individuals engage in violence. Those who expressed themselves peacefully today are appreciated and recognized by the Los Angeles Police Department.”
Users online commenting, criticizing the so-called protests. “These are NOT protesters in any way, shape, or form. These are violent anarchists, including domestic terrorists of black lies matter and fascists of Antifa. They are acting under the orders of the Democrat party and are operating as agents thereof. Protesters protest a wrong, imagined or otherwise. NOTHING in commiefornia has changed in regards to abortion. There is NOTHING to protest.”
One asked, “Remember when Trump supporters acted like this? Oh, yeah. That never happened.”
