Beware that Calif☭rnia’s drought is not extreme weather, it’s rainfall this year is not out of line with most years’. Calif☭rnia has a water storage system that is designed to sustain the state’s needs, but urban and agricultural consumption, for 5 years. And this would be the point where you would expect me to say “but it is being mismanaged!”
But that is decidedly not the case. CA is intentionally lowering the level of our reservoirs out of sync with reasonable expectation of historic and well researched precipitation patterns. I have posted before, maybe even here on RVM, that many times in the 25 years I have lived here, CA has had brimming levels of water in the reservoir system by about mid January. Somewhere there appears to be a memo that “due to expected Spring rains, full reservoirs should be drained down to handle that additional rainfall.” This past year in particular, they dropped water levels by more that half. . .and the “Spring rain” did not come, again. And they continued to lower water levels well past the dates where such additional water would start to fall! They also allocate millions in providing for even greater storage, but not one new large capacity reservoir has been built in the 25 years I have lived here.
Likely you have heard the statement from the Left that there should never be a crisis let go to waste. That shows us that they find crisis useful, and they are certainly not above creating one where none exists. All on has to do it remember the restrictions in which they indulged during the pandemic. Control is the intent! And do not ever think that doing things that causes innocent deaths is beyond them to create and reinforce that controlling power.
