At the same time at the Ron Regis Park in Renton, two people were shot and taken to a local hospital, and two others were taken to Harborview Medical Center listed in critical condition.

In the third shooting which is the one that occurred at Cal Anderson Park, a man was shot and killed around 12:30 am. That incident was reported as gun shots heard near the basketball courts at the park. When police arrived, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk with people performing first aid on him. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The fourth shooting occurred in the “SoDo” (or south of downtown) neighborhood also around 12:30am. Police responded to rapid gunfire just outside the T-Mobile park on Occidental Avenue South and South Edgar Martinez Way, with people fleeing out of Tony T’s Sports Lounge shortly after. A woman was shot in that incident and a window was shattered.

Around 3:15am, the fifth shooting occurred in the Pioneer Square district in Seattle, at 3rd Avenue South and South Main Street. One person was struck during that shooting.

Sharing the shooting incidents on social media, Conservative Ladies of Washington President Julie Barrett said, “This is a direct result of progressive policies. It’s not just in King County, the entire state is suffering rise in crime and violence due to progressive legislation passed by the Democrat majority.”

This weekend of violence comes as the King County Executive and King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seek to expand the Restorative Community Pathways (RCP) program from juveniles to adults.

“Rather than face a judge,” Jason Rantz reported, “RCP puts suspects in front of a community panel of activists. That panel decides how the suspect can be held accountable.” This is true for juvenile suspects who “bring a gun to school, commit assault, steal cars, or commit other felonies.”

The new diversion program, a spokesman said, will be “similar to” the program for juvenile offenders, but will “include no violent offenses, no gun or weapon offenses, and no repeat offenders.” The program will be aimed at about 1,000 criminals who are “facing their first-time, low-level felony property and drug-related offenses such as theft, car theft, possessing stolen property/identification/financial information, selling stolen property, damaging property, and drug crimes (delivery or possession with intent to deliver).”

The program essentially legalizes even more crimes in the county.

South King County mayors are not on board with the program and have repeatedly asked prosecutors to stop going soft on crime. Clearly, their pleas have gone unanswered.
