Just more evidence of the massive voting power behind the GOP, Representative Liz Cheney found herself on the losing end of Wyoming primaries last night. While Cheney is a Republican, over the last few years, she viciously criticized former President Donald Trump and many of her colleagues within the GOP. Not only did she attack Trump, but she gained a seat on the January 6 committee that continuously proposed that the former President helped instigate the riot on Capitol Hill. Now that Cheney lost nearly 40 points to Harriet Hageman, she is comparing herself to Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses Grant.

While Liz Cheney is the one who lost, she apparently doesn’t blame herself as she gave a speech after the election. She said, “Two years ago. I won this primary with 73% of the vote. I could easily have done the same again. The path was clear, but it would’ve required that I go along with President Trump’s lie about the 2020 election. […] That was a path I could not and would not take.”

Giving a glimpse of the supposed bright future ahead of her, Liz Cheney surprisingly compared herself to Abraham Lincoln. “The great and original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and the House before he won the most important election of all. Lincoln ultimately prevailed, he saved our Union, and he defined our obligation as Americans for all of history.”

Liz Cheney added, “Speaking at Gettysburg of the great task remaining before us, Lincoln said, ‘That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. That this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom and a government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from this earth.'”

And again, if comparing yourself to the President who helped end slavery wasn’t enough, Liz Cheney continued with how Grant refused to retreat during the 1864 Battle of the Wilderness. “Refusing to retreat, he pressed on to victory. Lincoln and Grant and all who fought in our nation’s tragic Civil War, including my own great-great-grandfathers, saved our Union. Their courage saved freedom.”

After the upset for Liz Cheney, Donald Trump celebrated yet another victory on Truth Social, writing, “Congratulations to Harriet Hageman on her great and very decisive WIN in Wyoming. This is a wonderful result for America and a complete rebuke of the Unselect Committee of political Hacks and Thugs. Liz Cheney should be ashamed of herself, the way she acted, and her spiteful, sanctimonious words and actions towards others. Now she can finally disappear into the depths of political oblivion, where I am sure she will be much happier than she is right now. Thank you, WYOMING!”
