This heartbreaking event marks the 54th officer to lose their life in the line of duty in Oakland. The last such tragedy took place in 2009 when four officers were killed by a wanted parolee after a routine traffic stop.
The shooting in Oakland on Friday prompted a substantial response from law enforcement, with a wide area around the crime scene being cordoned off. Numerous Oakland police officers and Alameda County Sheriff’s deputies were present, with a crashed white truck within the taped-off area.
More information regarding the shooting is expected to be provided by the Oakland police in an afternoon press conference. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the fallen officer’s family and the Oakland Police Department during this difficult time.
Please keep the Oakland Police Officer shot this morning in your thoughts/prayers.
Officers being shot is up over 52% in the United States.
The reality is…we are the only profession (except for our brave service men/women) who go to work with people actively trying to kill us!
