The U.S. State Department had also taken precautions by restricting travel for government employees and their families outside major cities in Israel, citing concerns about potential Iranian strikes.

The attack on the Iranian consulate occurred on April 1, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals, including seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Notably, one of the individuals killed was identified as Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps who had been previously sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department for his role in Iran’s support of the militant group Hezbollah.

Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, along with U.S. CENTCOM Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla, convened a meeting at the Hatzor Israeli Air Force base to discuss the rising tensions.
