Clarisa Burgos, a young mother, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a black Honda sedan that was pulled over when the assailants struck, firing multiple shots. Tragically, she sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and died at the scene. The driver, a 39-year-old male, was wounded but managed to drive to the nearest police station, the NYPD’s 103rd Precinct stationhouse, located about 2.5 miles away.
Security footage reveals the shocking sequence of events. Two men, clad in dark clothing, can be seen slowly making their way towards the vehicle from across the street, while another man walks by on the sidewalk. Without warning, one of the gunmen draws a weapon and fires multiple shots through the driver’s window, while the second assailant fires from behind him. A third suspect, who had been walking on the sidewalk, rushes to the front of the car and fires more rounds through the windshield and driver’s window. The assailants then flee the scene as the victim’s car momentarily stalls in the middle of the street before speeding away.
