“Defendants’ unlawful efforts culminated in the January 6 mass attack on the United States Capitol and the brutal, physical assault of hundreds of law enforcement officers. Many Defendants in this case planned, aided, and actively participated in that attack. All Defendants are responsible for it.”

Others named in the suit are Roger Stone, Stop The Steal LLC, Proud Boys and the Proud Boys leader, Enrique Tario, Brandon Straka, The Oath Keepers, and several other named defendants as well as “John Does 1-10.”

The seven plaintiffs are listed as Conrad Smith, Danny McElroy, Byron Evans, Governor Latson, Melissa Marshall, Michael Fortune, and DeRoche.

“The attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021…was caused by Defendants,” the lawsuit says. “After Defendant DONALD J. TRUMP lost the November 2020 Presidential election, he and the other Defendants in this case conspired with each other and others to prevent Congress from certifying the election results through the use of force, intimidation, and threats. TRUMP and other Defendants propagated false claims of election fraud, encouraged the use of force, intimidation, and threats, and incited violence against members of
Congress and the law enforcement officers whose job it was to protect them.”

The lawsuit fails to mention the fact that even the FBI admitted that there was “scant” evidence that the events of January 6 were coordinated.

It also conveniently leaves out the fact that there has, in fact, been evidence of election fraud found across many states.

Finally, the suit is a slap in the face to the thousands of officers across the nation who dealt with over a year of protests-turned-riots by far left terrorists in cities like Portland, Seattle, New York, Chicago, LA, etc.

Edward Caspar, an attorney at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law representing the plaintiffs, said, “These officers want to keep this from happening again, and that’s why they want to hold these defendants accountable. On the sixth of January, these officers stood up and really protected our democracy, and I think they’re doing it again now by putting their names on this complaint. They want to protect democracy. They want to keep this a country where we elect our leaders with votes and not violence.”
