The investigation was initiated following allegations of “purported, unbecoming behavior” by the senior staffer, according to a spokesperson for Congressman Newhouse. However, no substantial evidence of wrongdoing was found during the investigation. The staffer, who left Representative Newhouse’s office on amicable terms for unrelated reasons and pursued another job this fall, claimed innocence of any misconduct. The salacious report has surfaced just days after a Democratic Senator’s aide was found to have posted a video online of himself engaging in sexual activity.

The U.S. Capitol Police have launched an inquiry into potential criminal violations following the public release of the recent video. Surprisingly, this is not the first instance of a sex tape investigation within the halls of Congress. In 2022, separate sets of explicit videos appeared on Snapchat, drawing attention to the issue. One of the videos contained footage of a man masturbating inside a House office building, with identifiable Capitol House furniture and carpeting. Another screenshot depicted two men engaged in an intimate act inside an office, although their faces were not visible.

During the investigation, Representative Newhouse’s office was alerted to the suspected involvement of a staff member in the videos. Immediately, the office reached out to the appropriate House entities to launch an independent investigation into the matter. However, the staffer in question, who remains unnamed, denied being part of the scandalous videos and refuted Representative Newhouse’s version of events. He discovered the existence of the investigation in June 2022 and was informed a month later that it concluded with no evidence supporting the allegation.
