A man was wounded by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies after they responded to a report of a deadly shooting on Thursday morning.
In the early hours of the morning, around 2:30 a.m., deputies from the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station were called to the 13400 block of Barker Lane in Home Gardens, an unincorporated area of Corona.

The deputies were dispatched to the scene following a report of gunshots in the area.
Upon their arrival, the deputies discovered a deceased man lying on the ground outside a residence, having succumbed to a gunshot wound.
During their investigation, the deputies determined that the suspected shooter may have sought refuge inside a neighboring home, suspected to be the location of the shooting incident.

With a purposeful entry into the adjacent property, the deputies commenced their search for the suspect. In the course of this operation, an altercation of some nature transpired.
It was during this confrontation that the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed at present, was wounded by the deputies. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has not provided information on the events preceding the discharge of the deputies’ weapons.
The wounded suspect was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, with his injuries not deemed to be life-threatening. Notably, no deputies were harmed during the incident.
The identity of the deceased victim of the shooting has not yet been disclosed, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Central Homicide Unit will take charge of investigating this homicide.
The investigation into the shooting involving the deputies will be conducted by the investigators of the “Force Investigations Detail.”
