It all began when Fort Lauderdale Police received a 911 text around 7:39 a.m. from Chludinsky, who made alarming threats of violence. The dispatcher relayed the message that Chludinsky claimed to possess firearms and threatened to open fire on anyone approaching his location, alleging that his wife had been sexually assaulted.

Bodycam footage captured the tense moments as officers attempted to communicate with Chludinsky inside the hotel room. Officer Jack DiCristofalo could be heard urging Chludinsky to surrender peacefully, but the situation quickly escalated when Chludinsky appeared with a gun in hand, prompting the officers to respond with gunfire.

Despite Chludinsky firing back at the officers through the door, the police were able to neutralize the threat. During the exchange of gunfire, Officer DiCristofalo sustained multiple gunshot wounds, with a miraculous photo later revealing a bullet lodged in his protective vest, likely saving his life.
