At least six individuals lost their lives on Saturday afternoon during a stabbing spree that took place at the Westfield Bondi Junction, a prominent six-level shopping center in Sydney, Australia. Authorities confirm that the lone suspect responsible for the horrific incident was shot and killed by a police officer.

During a press conference, New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke stated that six people, including the assailant, were pronounced dead. The suspect was confronted by a courageous officer who pursued him to the fifth level of the mall. Additionally, eight others were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Disturbing reports from local media suggest that among those attacked by the suspect was an infant. Assistant Commissioner Cooke revealed that the suspect had initially entered the shopping center, exited, and then returned to carry out the vicious attack.
At present, authorities have yet to determine the suspect’s motives or identity. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized that the Australian Federal Police (AFP) hadn’t declared the incident an act of terror. However, he described it as a “horrific act of violence” that had shocked the nation.
