Las Vegas, NV – K9 Enzo, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, was severely injured after being stabbed eight to nine times while working to take a suspect into custody during a standoff in downtown Las Vegas last Friday. The Metropolitan Police Department released a video clip showing the dramatic rescue of the K-9 officer who was in dire need of medical attention. Enzo was immediately rushed to a local animal hospital for immediate attention. However, the injuries sustained by Enzo required the K-9 officer to be airlifted to another facility for further care.

At the scene, the officers rallied behind one another and acted immediately to ensure that the injured K9 officer’s life was saved. K-9 Enzo’s persistence and the actions taken by the authorities resulted in securing the suspect responsible for his injuries. 64-year-old Thurman Lowe Jr. was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of assault on a protected person and one count each of attempting to kill a police animal, arson, and resisting police while armed, records show.
