In a tragic incident that has sparked controversy and drawn attention to the issue of the illegal alien invasion of our country, 18-year-old Elmer Rueda-Linares was arrested in connection with the death of Kurt Englehart, a senior adviser to U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a Democrat.

The fatal crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on April 6 at the intersection of Kietzke and Peckham lanes in Reno. Rueda-Linares was initially charged with felony hit-and-run, but the charge has since been amended to failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He is currently held at Washoe County Jail on a $100,000 bail.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Rueda-Linares entered the United States illegally on March 12, 2021, near the Rio Grande City, Texas, Port of Entry without inspection by an immigration official. Despite being arrested by United States Customs and Border Protection, he was released on his own recognizance on June 22, 2021.

Following his arrest, federal officers placed an immigration detainer on Rueda-Linares to alert local law enforcement for up to 48 hours after his anticipated release. This action allows federal authorities to take custody and initiate the deportation process.
