Palm Coast, FL – On Friday, April 19, authorities responded to a distress call reporting a highly intoxicated female at a residence on Farraday Lane. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched Deputy Parker to the scene. However, before he could arrive, Deputy Parker encountered the woman, identified as 40-year-old Julia Jones, at the intersection of Farraday Lane and Fawn Lane.

Concerned for her safety and the safety of others, Deputy Parker engaged Jones in conversation. It quickly became apparent that she was heavily intoxicated, unable to maintain her balance, and emitting a strong odor of alcohol. To prevent any potential harm to herself or passing motorists, the deputies requested Jones stand near their patrol car. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse.

Suddenly, Jones grew extraordinarily agitated and erupted into a frenzy of screams and yells. Deputies, solemnly committed to maintaining public order, moved to detain her and prevent any further disturbance. However, Jones vehemently resisted, spitting on the deputies and fighting to break free from their grasp. It took several minutes of struggle, involving both deputies and medical personnel, to subdue Jones and secure her in the rear of the patrol car.

During a subsequent search, deputies discovered a small bag inside Jones’ backpack. The bag contained three white pills, later identified as acetaminophen and hydrocodone. As a result, Jones was arrested on multiple charges, including Disorderly Intoxication – Public Place, Cause Disturbance; Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer; and Possession of Hydrocodone.

While en route to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, Jones began banging her head against the interior of the vehicle while unleashing a barrage of screams. Fearing for her well-being, deputies decided to divert to AdventHealth in order to ensure her medical clearance before transporting her to jail.

Jones was eventually released upon posting a bond of $7,500. Addressing the incident, Sheriff Rick Staly emphasized the seriousness of Jones’ actions: “This woman disrupted a peaceful neighborhood and then continued to berate and attack and spit on deputies. If you spit and attack a Deputy Sheriff, we guarantee you a trip to the Green Roof Inn.”
