Virginians are outraged after a group of “masked tough guy wannabe thugs” trapped a police officer inside her patrol car during a chaotic “street takeover” event. The incident, which took place in Fairfax County, was captured on a shocking bodycam video that showed hundreds of people retaliating against the officers who were trying to disperse their early morning car meet-up.

In the distressing video, the officer can be heard calling for backup as the crowd surrounds her car and begins to attack it. One person climbed on top of the patrol car, while others banged on the windows and attempted to open the car doors. The chaos escalated further when a man brandished a rifle from a car window, and multiple vehicles drove recklessly through the scene.

Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis described the situation as “utter chaos and disorder,” expressing his gratitude that the officers narrowly avoided a potentially fatal scenario. He called the individuals involved “masked, tough-guy-wannabe-thugs” and assured the public that such criminal behavior would not be tolerated in the county.

Thanks to video evidence, authorities have been able to identify four individuals involved in the incident. Ronal Urrea-Hernandez, 18, who allegedly crashed into the officer before fleeing, is facing charges of felony hit-and-run. Carlos A. Martinez Jr., 18, has been charged with reckless driving for his involvement in a crash with a patrol car. Dylan Heckard, 20, is facing multiple charges, including abduction, assault on a law enforcement officer, and obstruction of justice. Heckard was identified through a selfie he posted on social media, in which he made an obscene gesture.

In response to the incident, the Fairfax County Police Department has created a Civil Disturbance team to proactively identify and respond to street takeovers before they become dangerous. The team will utilize a helicopter to track down individuals who try to flee the scene.
