Los Angeles, California – A thorough investigation is currently underway following a fatal shooting incident involving deputies who responded to reports of a man harassing individuals in East Los Angeles late Friday evening.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident took place shortly before 10 p.m. when deputies were dispatched to El Tio Tono Market near Pomeroy Street and N. Eastman Avenue.

Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies encountered an individual, identified as 28-year-old Martin Sebastian, who was allegedly armed with a metal stick.

The events leading up to the use of lethal force by the deputies remain uncertain at this time. However, at some point during the interaction, deputies discharged their firearms, resulting in the death of the suspect at the scene.

The Los Angeles Department of the Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of the deceased as Martin Sebastian on Monday.
