The Georgia Election Board recently voted 2-1 to introduce measures aimed at enhancing oversight in Fulton County, which has been associated with prosecutor Fani Willis and a notably high number of votes in the 2020 elections, as reported by the Georgia Recorder. The board’s decision includes appointing an independent election overseer to monitor the county’s election procedures. This move comes after previous incidents, such as double-scanning 3,075 ballots during a statewide recount, and reports of 17,000 missing ballots, investigated by the office of Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. However, these errors were determined to have not impacted the election outcome, where Joe Biden defeated former President Donald Trump.

In Fulton County, Biden allegedly initially secured 73% of the vote, amounting to 243,000 votes. During a recount initiated by the Trump campaign, Biden lost 932 votes, and officials admitted failures in properly backing up data to servers during the recount process. Additionally, discrepancies were attributed to mishandling of ballot batches, prompting changes to the ballot handling processes.

Mark Wingate, a Republican member of the Fulton County Elections Board, raised concerns about discrepancies between the voter rolls and the population of Fulton County.
