In a heart-stopping act of bravery, highly skilled detectives from the New York Police Department (NYPD) successfully saved a distressed woman who was perched on the edge of a 54-story rooftop in Manhattan. The incredible rescue unfolded on Wednesday at a building located on East 29th Street in Midtown.

When the emergency service unit (ESU) of the NYPD received a call at around 3:10 p.m., they immediately responded to the scene. However, upon arrival, they found themselves separated from the woman by a glass partition. Determined to reach her and ensure her safety, the detectives quickly devised a daring plan.

Bodycam footage captured the intense moments as the ESU members skillfully executed a rope operation. At least two detectives were seen holding onto the woman’s left arm through a small gap in the seven-foot high barriers. The video, later shared by the NYPD on social media, then showed an officer, securely tethered to a rope, leaping over the glass wall to join another ESU member who was already providing assistance to the woman on the ledge.

Working together seamlessly, the two brave detectives carefully lifted the woman above the glass partition, while on the other side, their fellow officers stood ready to retrieve her. In a reassuring voice, one of the rescuers said, “You’re okay.” Once safely secured, the woman was swiftly transported to Bellevue Hospital for necessary care and evaluation.
